U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) today released the following statement on Senate Resolution (S. Res 438) congratulating the success of charter schools as an essential part of meeting the educational needs of students in Arizona and nationwide.

"I am proud that Arizona is home to the number one charter school in the nation, Basis Charter School" said Senator McCain. "Students in Arizona should have access to high-quality education and the more than 500 charter schools in Arizona provide that opportunity."

The Senate resolution states: The Senate congratulations the students, families, teachers, and administrators of charter schools across the United States for their ongoing contributions to education; their impressive strides in closing the academic achievement gap in schools in the United States, particularly schools with some of the most disadvantaged students in both rural and urban communities; and improving and strengthening the public school system in the United States.
